Day 2 - India Gate

This is 42 m tall and was built to commemerate the deaths of some 70000 indian soldiers who fought in WW1. On the gate itself are 19000 names etched into stone. A eternal flame burns day and night under the arch to remember the soldiers who laid down their lives in the Indo-Pakistan War of December 1971.

Shifts are 3 hrs long and the soldier on duty MUST not move the duration of that shift.

I found the fact the soldiers guarding the gate, had their riffles in their arms at ready quite daunting.....

The other culture shock are the number of beggers who will crowd you for money or sellers who will grab your arm and BEG you to buy....yep it's India.
