Day 2 - Jama Masjid

This Mosque called Jama Masid ("mosque commanding view of the world") is the oldest in Delhi dating back to 1644. The Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, also built the Taj Mahal and the Red Fort.

Darrien and Aunt Josie in front of the main Mosque.

The marble work on this architectural wonder is exquisite!
We marvelled at the size, decoration and expense. The Indian people hold this place in high regard. As such we were required to remove our shoes before entering and women had to put on a colourful overcoat.....

Holy Water

This outfit is worn by ALL the women here.
So striking and colourful. The husband was
overjoyed that I asked for his wife's photo.
They had travelled 250km to see the Mosque.

Yeah, I look Big! It's the camera bag OK!
Sigh...so grown up looking.
These are some of my favourite picture from here.....
