DAY 5 - Marble Work

Cutting the design into the white marble.
Brown surface temporary to aid with design process
which later they wash off.
After our tour, the Guide once again took us to more cottage industry workshops (like back in Delhi).
Here they showed us how the marble work was completed and how to test if it's Agra marble or not.
Two differences to the more commonly known Italian Marble:-
First the Agra Marble used in the construction of The Taj is non-porus.
Secondly, it's very strong.

These Roses are made up of many tiny gem pieces.
Prices are based on number of pieces in a design and
not the overall size.

If you can stratch the marble with your finger nail...It's Italian marble.
The process requires diamond saws and hours of patience & skill.

Creating the tiny gem pieces for the designs...
