Day 5 - Kashmir hand knotted Rug

The Loom
After viewing how the Mahal Taj was made from Agra Marble we continued to a Mughal Carpets to witness first hand how a hand knotted rug is created. The process is time consuming and a single rug takes about two months of long houred days to create. You can see in the following photos that they use a timber loom and proceed (just like in primary school art class) to tie individual knots and then drag down the knots down to create the desired pattern....
