Day 4 - Tiger Safari (not)

We got up at the fantastic time of 6am to grab some breakfast before meeting in the lobby of the Tiger Safari hotel to set off at 7am for the Tiger Safari. Much anticipation was murmured about...will we see a tiger today? Blankets were given out as Darrien's teeth chattered together in cold and everyone was rubbing themselves in the hope of some warmth (9 degrees).
Wrapped in blankets...it's COLD
Heading into the Safari area at Ranthambhore National Park
The bite in the air as we set off in the jeep was real, icy and made your limbs feel numb with cold. Darrien was cold even with my blanket and his. I ended up buying him some gloves and a beanie for $12 AUD. I had bartered them down from $16. As we progressed into the park we saw deer, birds and that was it. Then as we were about to leave, there became some excitement...one jeep of six guys had seen the male tiger and taken photos. Off we "bumped" sitting on each other's laps and being jostled about in the hope we would not be too late. Yep, we missed the tiger by FIVE minutes!!!! We headed out to see monkeys and water snakes....but no tiger :-(

Darrien felt pretty aweful when we returned, so it was off to bed with the cold/flu tablets I'd flown over with me. Josie also decided that sleep sounded like a good idea... So, I began my NINE hours of three power cuts and two internet failures to try to update the blog between reading, joking with the hotel staff and drinking chai tea.

  1. Oh I'm so sad you didn't get to see a tiger! It was probably too cold for them too and they were huddled away somewhere to keep warm! Great shots just the same! Hope Darren is feeling better now. Being sick and away from home can be miserable :(
Keep having fun guys and taking lots of beautiful pics.
